About me

My family has deep roots in Alaska — my grandparents came here in the 1940s, and homesteaded in East Anchorage as part of the military veteran’s land auction. I was born in Anchorage and grew up in Eagle River, attending Fire Lake Elementary and Mirror Lake Middle School, and graduating from Chugiak High School in 2009.

After earning my civil engineering degree at Arizona State University, I moved back to Anchorage to earn my master’s degree at UAA while interning with local engineering firms. In 2017, I bought my first home in Eagle River, where we still live today.

My beautiful wife Shelby was also born in Alaska and raised in Eagle River where she and her mother, Kim, have been small business owners in Eagle River for over a decade. Shelby and I are currently raising our three children here in Eagle River.

Like many Alaskans, I spend as much time as possible outdoors. In the summer, I enjoy camping, canoeing, hiking, hunting, fishing, golfing, or just staying up late to enjoy the midnight sun. In the winter, you’ll often find me sledding or snowboarding and making the most of Alaska’s long winter season.

Professionally, I work as a civil engineer for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, where I design and maintain drainage infrastructure for Alaska’s highways, airports, and ferry terminals across the state. This work often requires collaborating with federal, state, local, and tribal partners to get projects done.

Why I’m Running

Eagle River is where I grew up, where I’m raising my family, and I’d be honored to serve our community on the Assembly.

I decided to run for this seat because I was tired of seeing the lack of progress we’ve made as a city. For years we have seen political bickering monopolize the time and energy of this district’s representatives in local government while nothing gets done. I don’t wish to point a finger in either direction, I want to sit down with all members of the community to figure out how we can solve these problems and get our city back on track.

If elected, I will be focused on bettering the lives of my constituents through sound policy and practical, analytical problem solving. I have over a decade of experience working on capital projects and navigating the state and municipal permitting processes, and I would bring that practical expertise to the Assembly. I’m ready to deliver on the basics for my community in Eagle River, Chugiak, and JBER.

I would appreciate your vote and support this April.

My Priorities

Tackling the homelessness crisis

Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a balanced and holistic approach. By continuing to improve public safety, Anchorage can restore community confidence, boost tourism, and strengthen local businesses by ensuring our town is vibrant again. Ultimately, the goal should be fewer people living in encampments and more people connected to housing, behavioral health care, and employment services. There is no easy solution, and we cannot lose sight of compassion. Simply arresting people or pushing them from one area to another is not a long-term answer. We need to keep parks, schools, and public spaces safe while helping people move off the streets and toward stability. That means stronger coordination between city services and nonprofits, expanded shelter and treatment options, and practical pathways to work and housing. This won’t be a quick fix, but with steady effort and the right focus, we can make real progress.

Reducing the cost of living to stop outmigration

I’ll support targeted property tax reform and increased housing development to make Anchorage more affordable and competitive with surrounding areas. I will work with local contractors to reduce construction costs and increase housing supply, keeping families from moving out of state or relocating to the Valley. I grew up in Eagle River and bought my first home here because this is where I want to raise my kids. I want our community to be an affordable, prosperous place where my kids will want to stay.

Strengthening public safety

I’ll always support our law enforcement because I believe public safety is the bedrock of every strong community. I’m committed to supporting the Anchorage Police Department in filling critical positions and ensuring families feel safe using our parks and trails. I believe adequate staffing and visible community engagement are essential to public safety and quality of life for our communities.
